A QCW (Quasi-Continuous Wave) fibre laser is a specialised laser that operates in two distinct modes: pulsed mode and continuous wave (CW) mode.

Unlike standard pulsed lasers, QCW lasers emit long pulses (ranging from microseconds to milliseconds) with very high peak power. They achieve a high duty cycle (often up to 10%), meaning the laser can remain "on" for a significant portion of the cycle. When needed, they can also switch to a pure CW mode for steady, uninterrupted energy delivery.
